General concept
Our concept of Change At the Riparian Reactive Interface (RRI) questions the role of riparian ecosystems as ‘gatekeepers’ of C, N and P land-water transfers and global nutrient cycles as water table and temperature regimes change, and in turn, affect key physico-chemical processes: sorption, redox and microbial cycling.
To understand and predict how the RRI may impact larger scale earth nutrient cycles we investigate factors governing sources, solubility, exports and susceptibility to change in riparian units and their spatial organisation within catchments in UK, Sweden and Germany.
